Day 1
- Departure from Gjirokastra will be at 10:00 AM. 20 minutes drive to our first stop at Monastery of Cepo, a beautiful and historic Byzantine monastery located just a short drive from the city. Here, you will have the opportunity to explore the monastery and learn about its fascinating history.
- Next, we will visit Eremit's Cave and War Bunker. This cave served as a hiding place for the inhabitants of the nearby villages during World War II, and the bunker was built during the communist regime. You will learn about the cave's history and explore the bunker, which has been preserved in its original state.
- We will then head to the Village of Zhulat, a picturesque village known for its beautiful architecture, magnificent history, and traditional way of life. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the 5 m tall statute of the first Albanian Legislator “Idriz Sulli”, meet locals, and learn about their customs and traditions.
- After that, we will have a bird-watching experience, where you will see a variety of birds in their natural habitat. This is a great opportunity for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts.
- We will then visit a local artisan, where you will learn about traditional handicraft work and see the artisans at work. You can even try your hand at some of the techniques yourself!
- Lunch will be served at a local restaurant at 2:00 PM. You will have the opportunity to sample traditional Albanian cuisine and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
- We will then return to Gjirokastra at 2:40 PM, where the tour will end.
